Open Wide the Gates of Hell...

Lets get a few things out of the way... 

First, why would anyone make yet another blog dedicated to black metal and what the hell makes this blog any more interesting than the hundreds upon thousands of others out there? The answer is easy... absolutely fucking nothing. Cemetery Lament is just my little slice of hell on the web. I have created this blog as a way to explore and promote one of my favorite genres of music and nothing more. 

Why should anyone care about this blog? Again this is easy... You probably don't care and that's just fine with me. This blog is explore, discover and gain a deeper appreciation of black metal. I'm not personally involved in the black metal scene beyond being a long time fan. I don't work in the music industry nor am I making any money for my reviews or opinions. 

So who am I? Absolutely nobody... Just a longtime fan of black metal. I discovered black metal during my teenage years in the 90's and have been hooked ever since. My first "album" was a compilation from Nuclear Blast called Death... Is Just the Beginning Vol. II. I couldn't tell you why I bought that CD or where I got it but the music I heard on that disk changed my life forever.

Up till this time I was listening to pretty mainstream stuff. Metallica, Megadeth and of course Ozzy. But after discovering this album everything changed. I started listening to much heavier and darker music and thus began my love of black metal. 

Now... With all that out of the way. What is Cemetery Lament all about? The idea here is pretty straightforward. Every week I will find an album and write a review about it. Along the way I might post news or other interesting articles from around the web regarding black metal or other related topics. I'm an avid listener to BandCamp and SoundCloud so I will be reviewing music from both established artists as well as underground/unsigned bands. I spend a lot of time looking for new music and don't really care about how "famous" an artist is or isn't so don't expect this to be just a copy of Metal Hammer or Terrorizer Magazine.

With any luck over the next few months/years I will be able to gather a bit of a following here and perhaps even do some interviews or offer some exclusive shit like swag or something from a few of the bands. Who knows... For now I just hope to make this as entertaining and interesting as possible without boring the shit out of anyone unlucky enough to discover this blog.
