Analog... and some other shit
So I haven't posted much of anything in a long while. Not going to bore anyone with lame ass excuses I've just been busy with real life shit and haven't had much time to dedicate to the blog. I still keep tabs on the underground black/death metal scene when I can but for the most part I have been slacking off like a motherfucker because my work and home life have been pretty crazy for the last year or so. But enough about all that.
Over the last few months I've been digging into old school black and death metal that is available on vinyl or cassette tape. Why you might ask? Well, mostly because I like to own the physical copy of music and also because I'm still convinced that analog sounds better than digital... I'm not going to go into the long boring bullshit arguments about how digital is just as good or how some clown with a billion dollars worth of audio equipment has tested and retested it and it's all the same. I like analog sound and fuck what science says.
Anyway... I've started to compile a list of the bands that I absolutely NEED to have on vinyl and I'm going to attempt to actually track down original first pressings when available. Now trying to find originals of some of this shit isn't going to be easy but that's going to be my goal whenever possible. Mayhem's Deathcrush for example is probably going to be next to fucking impossible (unless somebody reading this has a copy they wanna sell me.) but if I happen to find it and I don't have to sacrifice my first born I will probably get it. Same for Venom's Black Metal and a the first three Bathory albums.
In other news I'm still planning on doing a podcast of some sort but unfortunately due to cost and the legal issues that might come up I have shelved the record label idea for the time being. However like I said the podcast is still in the works I'm just trying to figure out some technical logistics. So for those of you who were wondering what happened to the blog, if I was dead or maybe just said fuck it... I haven't it's just been a little difficult for me to get the time I need to dedicate to this. Hopefully 2020 will be a more chill year and I can enjoy some much needed downtime.
