A lot of people like to throw around words like " raw"  in the black metal community but very few actually deliver on the "raw" brutality of old school black metal from the early 90's. Hailing from Gjøvik, Djevelkult is a Norwegian black metal cult brought out of void in 2009 by Dødsherre Xarim, with a vision of darkness and chaos, and to spread a message of blasphemy against man and God. Xarim first started with a different set of members than the current lineup, but due to differences, imprisonments, and other situations, the lineup for the first year went into oblivion. Xarim then got together with the drummer Ond of Liktjern in 2010, and thus work of the evil chants started. With Xarim and Ond as the primary lineup, Djevelkult recorded and released the demo Skapt av Helvetesild in the summer of 2011. At the same time, Beleth joined in band, and shortly after, Skabb did, as well. With the lineup now a four-piece, Djevelkult then wrote and recorded their debut album, I Djevelens Tegn, which was subsequently released by Morbid Shrine Productions in September 2014. Went to The Agora Theater and Ballroom in Cleveland, OH last night to check out Insomnium. This is the second time I've had the chance to see these guys in concert and they didn't disappoint. The show was great and the crowd was fucking awesome. Also had the chance to hear some really great local acts who opened for Insomnium, Obsidian Eyes and Befallen both had great sets and I will definitely be following up this post with more information about both those bands really soon. Any-who it was a fucking awesome show so here are a few pictures.

I've said it before and I will say it again... One of the most amazing things about a site like SoundCloud is how it brings artists from around the world into contact with one another so they can pool their evil genius into a dark opus that would have otherwise never happened. If you've been following the blog for a while you are probably familiar with names like  Tahazu , Skyggefigurrer and Belzebut who have all been featured on Cemetery Lament at one time or another. Each of these artists have put out a mass of incredible work individually but when you bring their talent together you end up with... well you end up with Ordo Malum an EP of blackened brutality that can only be born in the true underground black metal scene.  Living half a world apart the trio didn't seem to have much trouble pulling this project together with each of them contributing their own unique talents to create a single cohesive vision of darkness that oozes from each of the six tracks....
